Terms of Service

By using TicCoach, you agree to these terms. We've written them in plain language.

What TicCoach is

TicCoach is an educational tool designed to support children and families dealing with tics and Tourette syndrome. It provides information, tracking tools, and exercises inspired by Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) methodology.

TicCoach is not a medical device, is not a substitute for professional medical or psychological care, and does not diagnose or treat any condition. See our Medical Disclaimer for full details.

Who can use TicCoach

TicCoach is intended for use by children ages 6–17, parents, and caregivers. Children under 13 should use TicCoach with parental awareness and supervision. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring appropriate use by children in their care.

Acceptable use

When using TicCoach, you agree not to:

  • Use the app for any purpose other than personal educational use
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the app or its content
  • Use Coach Tay to attempt to elicit harmful, misleading, or inappropriate content
  • Share your device access in ways that expose another person's health data

Coach Tay and AI features

Coach Tay is an AI-powered guide. It is designed to answer questions about tics in kid-friendly language and to provide encouragement. It is not a therapist, counselor, or medical professional. Responses from Coach Tay are generated automatically and may not always be accurate or appropriate to your specific situation.

If you or your child is experiencing a crisis, TicCoach will provide information about crisis resources including the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Please use these resources — Coach Tay cannot replace human support in a crisis.

Intellectual property

TicCoach, including the app, website, and all content (articles, exercises, illustrations, copy) is owned by TicCoach and protected by copyright. The clinical content library is developed in partnership with licensed clinicians and may not be reproduced or redistributed.

Disclaimer of warranties

TicCoach is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that its content is complete or free of inaccuracies. We make no warranty regarding medical outcomes, therapeutic effectiveness, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, TicCoach and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app (which for free users is $0).

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the date at the top and, for material changes, notify you within the app. Continued use of TicCoach after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.
